Knock on Wood

I'll be spending the day doing exactly that.
"Frankenstorm" aka Sandy is still causing problems.  The winds haven't been that bad, but all that rain.  Maryland seems to have gotten more than it's share of rain from Sandy.
The entire state was constantly under yellow bands of heavy rain that kept sweeping through yesterday and last night.

We were very lucky.  We have not lost power and the lower level has not flooded.  The non flooding is very surprising as we have has over 6" of rain.  This passed spring we had flooding from a thunderstorm, so we had a very nerve wracking day and night expecting the worst.  We are not out of the woods yet as we are supposed to have moderate to heave rains all day today and high winds.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all who were affected by Sandy, especially those on the coast.

  1. I'm glad you posted. I figured you were right in the middle of it all. We got rain and wind but nothing horrible. We never lost power at all. At one point 25% of town was out of power. I'm guessing a tree took down something major. Now it is like the surrounding towns that have about 5-10% out of power.

    1. I'm glad that you did not lose power and rode out the strom in fine shape.

I was mainly worried about the houses lower level. It's flooded twice in the last two years from Spring thunderstorms. Not out of the woods yet, but we seem to have made the right corrections in the area of prevention.

  2. Happy to hear you rode out the storm safely. Luckily, it looks as though the worst is over. I had the TV on all night, saddened by the loss of lives and the devastation of property.

    1. I am still amazed at the size and severity of this storm. Right now it is still raining, but nothing like it has been. Let's hope this is Mother Nature's finale, and not her opening shot!

  5. Ed, I am glad to hear you are doing OK and Sandy didn't cause too much damage for you. You have certainly been waterlogged in 2012, I know that from just reading your blog.

I like the new Fall theme on your blog.
