Meet "George"

Every year I always seem to have cat bird in the garden that follows me around.  Every year I call him "George".  This year he patiently waits for me to finish what I am doing and then feasts on the disturbed bugs.  Yesterday he even posed for a picture.

Today the temperature was 101 degrees, breaking the record.  As I sit here, the temp is 88 degrees with a verified tornado on the ground about 50 miles away, moving in this direction.  I hope "George" is in his little storm cellar!

  1. I have a catbird pair that I love to watch flitter around my house. Tornados are so scary. Stay safe.

    1. Rachel, "George" must have brought all his friends for a feast as there are birds everwhere this morning. Let's hope they really help reduce the bug population.

The tornado ran out of steam about 10 minutes after my post. We've only had one tornado in town since I've been living here.

  2. what Rachel said....YOU stay safe! I hope your garden doesn't get damaged again.

I had my first picking of Velour beans tonight, nearly 1 1/2 pounds! There were more, but company came (and my back gave out), so I'll pick again tomorrow. With the green French beans, I had 2 1/2 pounds in my largest bowl. I guess I'll be freezing beans tomorrow :-)

    1. Granny, the only damage was from the pounding rain, about an inch in one hour. Everything is propped up now. The humidity will be tropical very soon.

I'm glad you had such a good harvest from the 'Velour' beans. I'll be planting my second crop this weekend as well the 'Gourmet Green' that you sent me.

  3. I hope that tornado stayed far away. I've never had a cat bird, but the mocking bird that I had was nice. It scared away all the squirrels.

    1. Daphne, the tornado ran out of steem and didn't get this far.

I have some mockingbirds as well. Unfortunately the squirrels here must be much braver than yours. They are still around in abundance.

  4. I am glad you are safe.

I wish we had squirrels but we would have to have trees first!
