Harvest Monday is hosted by Daphne's Dandelions. It's a great way to see what other bloggers are harvesting from their gardens.
The last of the sweet peppers and a few more hot peppers. The next two nights are supposed to be in the upper 30's. The only thing left are the pole beans for their seed and loads of 'Tennessee Spice' pepper.
I've started going through my seed stash and making a list for next years growing. When I'm through I'm hoping to purge most of the stash. I have reduced it by 27% so far, but my goal is to reduce it by 75%. I wonder if I have that much will power.
I always do my stash in November or December, right before I order seeds for the next year. This year I ought to clear out all the solanum crops out of my stash. It is painful to do it though. I might keep one tomato as I grow a start every year for a friend of mine.
ReplyDeleteMy tomatoes were a bust this year due to fusarium wilt and the tomato pinworm. I have at least 40 varieties of seed, and only five have any resistance to fusarium, those seeds are pre- 2005. I'm thinking of "Yhe Great Tomato Give Away" this winter!
DeleteBeautiful peppers! we're just about done with all the harvests here too and tonight was first frost for us.
ReplyDeleteYhanks Jenny. I think the heat really set them back this year. the ones developing in cool weather have been awesome.
DeleteThose peppers are just beautiful! I go through the seed stash in December and even though there're so many I can never resist ordering more, more, more!
ReplyDeleteThe peppers are the best looking ones I've harvested all year. The cooler weather seems to agree with them.
DeleteThe stash needs some updating, some of the seeds can start collecting social security soon!
I can't believe you can purge the seed stash by 75%! That would be akin to me having empty food shelves in the pantry, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'll keep you posted on my progress. I figure I'll start with the ones purchased whn I lived in NJ. They are only 9 plus years old!
DeleteI have a hard time getting rid of seeds unless I absolutely know that they are dead. I'm also guilty of keeping empty seed packets - LOL!
