Harvest Monday- September 24, 2012

Harvest Monday is hosted by Daphne's Dandelions. It's a great way to see what other bloggers are harvesting from their gardens.

The garden is still producing, at least what is left of it.  Last Tuesday gave torrential rains and wind gusts over 60 mph.  Anything over 6" tall was flattened and broken.  The trellis' I built this spring did hold up,  This was small consolation though.  Fall clean up is going to be starting very early.

Mixed pole beans.

'Tennessee Spice' pepper.

More pole beans.

'Diva' cucumber.

'Snowberry' and 'Amy's Apricot' tomatoes.
The clean up began this weekend.  The 'Black Cherry' and 'Victor' tomato plants were removed.  When pulling out the bush beans, I did find enough dried beans from 'Greencrop' and 'Cherokee' to save for next year.

  2. Too bad about the wind storm. I find I usually get one bad one every year that knocks things down. Ours came in the summer this year.

    1. The timing for this years was good. I can now concentrate on clean up. This year I can get all the leaves shredded and dug in to give me head start next year.

  3. Nothing like a hard wind to put an end to the garden season in a hurry. We are shifting into the fall/winter crops as the days shorten and cool down. No big winds here though (so far) so the summer crops are still limping along too.

    1. We get wind here all the time. The wind, combined with the heavy rain was just too much. I'm taking a positve view. I'll for once, get my fall clean up done before the snow flies.

  4. I miss cucumber looking at yours. I was thinking or not to grow snowberry tomato. Now when I look at your cute tomato, I think I will order the seeds.

  5. Oh, what a shame the weather has blasted your garden already. You pulled in a nice looking bunch of vegetables in spite of the gale.

  7. Darned Mother Nature, anyway! My dear Victor is just beginning to get his second wind, and is loaded with green tomatoes. Hopefully it will have another three weeks before our first frost hits.
