Harvest Monday- July 9, 2012

Harvest Monday is hosted by Daphne's Dandelions.  It's a great way to see what other gardeners around the country are harvesting.

The heat seems to be have sent the earwigs elsewhere.  I was able to harvest Swiss chard again.

This week brought the first of the tomatoes, 'Silvery Fir Tree'.  The first two were eaten before they could be photographed.  The shallots have begun to mature.

What would my harvests be without lettuce?

Two from 'Wild Garden Mixed' lettuce, a romaine and an oak leaf.

'Gentilina' lettuce.

  1. And beautiful lettuce too. I miss having lettuce. I started some before my camping trip, but only a couple came up while I was gone. I hope I can get the rest to germinate.

    1. Thanks Daphne, I'm coming to the end for a while. The summer lettuce is growing so slowly!

  2. I think your earwigs came over to my garden.

Your lettuce is looking nicer than mine (earwigs), but we're still getting meals from it and the summer mix is growing quite well in containers, if this heat doesn't do it in. I'm getting a bit tired of lettuce, and ready for the tomatoes!

    1. I'm sorry about your earwig problem.

I'm getting a bit tired of it too. Then again I did miss it the other night when I had noe in the fridge!

  3. Earwigs....blerrrrrgh......

Your veggies look lovely. I'm struggling with my chard. Leaf miners, I think.

    1. I agree about the earwigs.

My leaf miners seem only be attracted to columbines. I've never had them bother the beets or the chard.
